Hyderabad: The Bandlaguda police arrested a habitual house burglary offender and recovered 10 tulas of gold and 10 tulas of silver ornaments worth about Rs 10 lakh. The action followed a complaint filed on 06.09.2025 by Shawanaz Mirza of Quba Colony, who reported the theft of cash and gold ornaments. Officers registered Crime No. 306/2025 under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the BNS and immediately opened the investigation.
As the inquiry advanced, the team intensified checks across sensitive spots. Consequently, on 01.12.2025, they detained Mohammed Saleem, also known as Sunil Shetty, Ibrahim or Setty Saleem, aged 52, from Ali Nagar in Balapur. He drew suspicion because he had earlier committed nearly 150 burglary offences, and police already kept a suspect sheet for him at Kanchanbagh Police Station.
Bandlaguda police trace suspect with long burglary record
In earlier years, officers detained him under the P.D. Act—first in 2018 from Kanchanbagh and again in 2021 from Falaknuma. He also entered judicial custody in April 2025 from Bandlaguda. However, after his release in August 2025, he returned to committing burglaries.
During questioning, he admitted to three burglary cases under Bandlaguda Police Station and one under Balapur Police Station. Based on his confession, officers seized 10 tulas of gold ornaments and 10 tulas of silver ornaments, all valued at about Rs 10 lakh. The recovery resolved four pending cases.
Senior officers, including Addl. DCP Srikanth of the South East Zone, ACP A. Sudhakar and SHO R. Devender, supervised the operation. Moreover, Detective Inspector Vishnu Vardhan Reddy coordinated field work. They appreciated Sub-Inspector K. Yadaiah and his crime team for their prompt action and recovery of the stolen property.
