Bandi Sanjay questions absence of Ambedkar statue in Old City, criticises Owaisi

HYDERABAD: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay, has strongly reacted to a recent speech by All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi in Hyderabad. He questioned whether there is a statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar anywhere in the Old City.

Bandi Sanjay criticises Owaisi

Bandi Sanjay alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had supported the public meeting organised by AIMIM at Darussalam. He claimed that major “thieves” and their associates were holding meetings together. He further accused the Congress party of disrespecting Ambedkar, reiterating his question about the absence of any Ambedkar statue in the Old City. Sanjay added that he trusted the Supreme Court and would not act against it.

He also raised concerns about the damage caused to farmers by recent hailstorms in Telangana and demanded immediate assistance for those affected.

Background to Owaisi’s speech

Earlier, Asaduddin Owaisi had addressed a gathering at Darussalam, where he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to divide and weaken Muslims. He alleged that the Modi government was introducing unconstitutional laws targeting the Muslim community. Owaisi vowed to launch a nationwide movement with support from various groups until such laws were repealed. He added that Modi had been trying to suppress Muslims for the past 11 years.
