Bandi Sanjay alleges lack of freedom for SIT in phone tapping case

Hyderabad: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay on Friday accused the state government of denying full freedom to the SIT probing the phone tapping case.

Speaking to the media at Jubilee Hills, he said the probe showed no real progress so far. According to him, the investigation failed to deliver results despite repeated claims. He added that the public continued to watch developments closely.

Bandi Sanjay alleged that senior figures in the state government were pressuring SIT officials. While he described the officers as sincere and capable, he questioned whether they were free to act independently.

Phone tapping case probe under pressure, says Bandi Sanjay

Seeking clarity, Bandi Sanjay asked the SIT to explain the scope of its inquiry. He questioned whether investigators were examining allegations against Harish Rao and K.T. Rama Rao, or only identifying whose phones were tapped.

Referring to the Assembly election period, he alleged that a control room operated from Sircilla to run phone tapping activities. He also claimed that the practice involved transactions worth thousands of crores over the last decade.

According to Bandi Sanjay, real estate developers, business leaders, politicians, film celebrities and judges were among those affected. He said allegations pointed towards the KCR family, yet authorities had not made any arrests.

Questioning the probe’s credibility, he asked why the government had not arrested former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao, whom he described as the key accused. He demanded the SIT disclose what it had achieved so far.

Bandi Sanjay accused the Congress government of using the phone tapping case to divert attention from corruption allegations. He said selective action would only deepen public distrust in the investigation.
