Islamabad, February 1: At least 18 Pakistani soldiers were killed in an attack by separatist militants in Balochistan province. According to a report, the troops were heading to Kalat district for an anti-separatist operation when around 70 to 80 fighters ambushed a police vehicle.
The Pakistani military issued a statement confirming that 12 militants were also killed in the exchange of fire.
Reports indicate that multiple districts in Balochistan are witnessing ongoing military operations against separatists. In the past 24 hours, Pakistani forces have reportedly killed a total of 23 militants in different operations across the region.
While the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) is suspected to be behind the attack, the group has not officially claimed responsibility.
