Balmuri Venkat lodges police complaint against KTR, Kaushik Reddy over CM remarks

Hyderabad: Political tensions flared up in Telangana as Congress MLC Balmuri Venkat filed a police complaint against BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and party MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, accusing them of targeting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy with derogatory remarks and objectionable social media posts.

The complaint was lodged with the Cyber Crime Police, following recent political developments surrounding the Kaleshwaram project inquiry. On Thursday, BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao appeared before the judicial commission probing the project. Speaking to the media afterwards, KTR allegedly made offensive comments directed at the chief minister, according to Venkat’s complaint.

Venkat further alleged that Kaushik Reddy had shared social media posts that were not only disrespectful toward the chief minister but also harmful to the government’s reputation. He contended that such actions were aimed at insulting a democratically elected leader and unsettling the state’s already sensitive political climate.

Calling the posts and remarks deliberate attempts to malign Revanth Reddy’s image, Venkat urged the police to initiate legal action against both KTR and Kaushik Reddy. He expressed concern that public figures holding responsible positions should not indulge in such behaviour, as it sends a wrong message to society.

Cyber Crime Police are now examining the complaint and are expected to take further action based on their findings.
