Hyderabad: The Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IA&AD) opened Audit Week 2025 at its Hyderabad office on Monday, launching a focused drive to modernise public audits with AI tools, data integration, and global best practices. Dr. C. Suvarna, Head of Forest Force, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest.
Principal Accountant General Chanda Pandit highlighted that the recent AGs’ Conference, which gathered over 100 senior officers, laid out a new strategic roadmap grounded in trust, sustainability, innovation, and accountability. Consequently, the department will scale up AI-driven analytics to deliver sharper, evidence-based audits.
She introduced the CAG-LLM, an indigenously developed Large Language Model. This tool allows audit teams to detect anomalies, predict risks, and generate focused insights faster. As a result, they can complete audits with greater speed and accuracy.
Audit Week 2025 features AI tools and national audit centre launch
During the event, officials confirmed the soft launch of the Centre of Excellence for Financial Audit on 26 November 2025. The Centre, part of the National Academy of Audit and Accounts, aims to promote advanced training, global benchmarks, and cutting-edge research. It will help Indian audit teams improve performance and increase international collaboration.
Dr. Suvarna stressed the importance of Audit Diwas, describing it as a reminder that independent audits protect democratic institutions. She noted that well-executed field audits ensure public spending translates into real developmental progress.
Throughout the week, IA&AD offices in Hyderabad and across the country will conduct workshops, outreach sessions, quizzes, and cultural activities. These events are intended to strengthen professional skills and build closer ties within the audit community.
On the opening day, the department also released new publications. Additionally, it honoured top-performing athletes and recognised three social service groups—Lekhadeep, Cheyuta, and Study Circle—for their public welfare contributions.
