ASMITA League women sports event held in Secunderabad

Hyderabad: Mera Yuva Bharat Hyderabad organised an ASMITA League women’s sports and celebration programme at Gymkhana Grounds in Secunderabad on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The event was held under the ASMITA League initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It was organised in association with the Sports Authority of India, Khelo India, and the District Sports Authority of Telangana.

More than 500 participants attended the programme, which promoted women’s empowerment through sports and community engagement. Participants competed in running events across different age groups, including Under 13 years, 13–18 years, and above 18 years.

Athletic competitions included 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres races. The events encouraged young athletes to demonstrate their sporting ability and competitive spirit.

Participation grows in ASMITA League women’s sports initiative

Several distinguished guests attended the ASMITA League women’s sports programme and encouraged participants. The dignitaries included Dr Kavita Reddy, Chairperson of the Institute of Health and Family Welfare, and Seema Kumari, Assistant Director at Prasar Bharati (Akashvani).

International hockey player Saundarya and national rowing player Geetanjali, an Asian Games participant, also attended the event. B. Madhvi, Chairperson of the Telangana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and District Youth and Sports Officer Nandkishor Gokul were present as well.

The guests praised the initiative for promoting women’s participation in sports, health, and fitness. They also encouraged young athletes to pursue sports to build confidence and leadership.

Organisers distributed certificates and medals to winners and runners-up during the closing ceremony. The programme concluded with strong participation and highlighted the role of sports in empowering women.
