Akshaya Patra to serve mid-day meals in all Kodangal govt schools

Hyderabad: Akshaya Patra Foundation will provide mid-day meals to all students in government schools across the Kodangal constituency. The initiative will be supported by a greenfield kitchen being constructed near Enkepally.

Representatives from the foundation invited Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to inaugurate the kitchen on November 14. The facility, coming up on a two-acre site, will enable large-scale, hygienic meal preparation for thousands of students.

While the Telangana government currently pays ₹7 per student for the meal scheme, Akshaya Patra spends nearly ₹25 per meal to ensure nutritional quality. The foundation will absorb the cost gap using Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding.

Since December last year, Akshaya Patra has already been running a successful breakfast scheme across all government schools in the constituency. Every morning, nearly 28,000 students in 312 schools receive nutritious breakfast under the programme.

The scheme has received strong community support, with parents and children in villages welcoming the effort. Officials say the initiative is becoming a model for other regions across the country.
