AIMIM seeks release of innocent youth after Banswada communal clashes

Hyderabad: AIMIM legislators sought the release of innocent minority youth and a fair probe into the Banswada communal clashes during separate meetings with Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin and ADGP Mahesh Bhagwat on Monday.

The delegation submitted a detailed representation regarding the recent violence in Banswada. MLAs Mohammad Mubeen, Mir Zulfeqar Ali, Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala and Kausar Mohiuddin, along with MLCs Mirza Rahmat Baig and Mirza Riyaz-ul-Hasan Effendi, were part of the team.

They requested an immediate halt to further arrests linked to the Banswada communal clashes. In addition, they urged authorities to release innocent individuals after proper legal scrutiny. The leaders said eight Muslims were arrested in connection with the incident and called for an impartial review of the cases.

The delegation also sought adequate compensation for traders whose shops were allegedly damaged or looted during the violence. They pressed for stringent action against those responsible and steps to restore peace in the affected area.

Minister orders probe into Banswada communal clashes

During the meeting, the AIMIM leaders expressed concern over clashes between two religious groups that led to minor vandalism and tension. Following the incident, certain right-wing organisations called for a bandh on Saturday. Authorities enforced heavy police deployment during the shutdown.

Responding to the representation, the Minister called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the Banswada communal clashes. He demanded strict action against those who disturbed communal harmony. He stressed that protecting the rights and property of all citizens remains the government’s priority.

The reported demolition of Masjid-e-Maulana also figured in the discussions. The Minister assured that officials would examine the issue and take action as per law.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed preparations for the upcoming month of Ramadan. Mohammed Azharuddin directed officials to ensure smooth arrangements so that the community does not face inconvenience. He reiterated his commitment to safeguarding communal harmony and ensuring justice for affected families.
