Hyderabad: Adilabad police arrested a notorious two-wheeler thief who had been targeting hospital premises across the district. District SP Akhil Mahajan announced on Saturday that the accused, Chouhan Shravan Kumar alias Ramesh, was involved in a series of bike thefts in both Adilabad and Nirmal. The police identified him as a serial bike thief due to the repeated nature of his offenses.
He had been stealing bikes parked outside RIMS Hospital in Adilabad and various hospitals in Nirmal. During the investigation, police recovered 12 stolen vehicles from his possession, further solidifying the image of a serial bike thief.
Accused sold stolen bikes without papers; 12 buyers face legal action
SP Mahajan stated that Shravan Kumar took to crime in pursuit of quick money and a lavish lifestyle. Notably, he sold the stolen bikes to local buyers without providing any legal documents. As a result, the actions of this serial bike thief have also led to legal trouble for unsuspecting buyers.
As a result, police filed cases against 12 individuals who purchased the stolen bikes. Of these, 11 have been arrested, while one suspect is still absconding. Authorities have urged the public to avoid buying vehicles, gold, or other valuables without valid proof of ownership. Clearly, preventing the work of a serial bike thief requires due diligence from both buyers and law enforcement.
SP issues stern warning, lauds police efforts
Meanwhile, SP Mahajan commended the Two Town police for swiftly solving the case. He also warned that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in damaging public or private property.
The media briefing was held at the Adilabad Two Town Police Station. DSP L. Jeevan Reddy, Inspector K. Nagaraju, SIs Peer Singh and Vishnu Prakash, and other officers attended the session.
