Adarsha Rythu system revival urged by commission

Hyderabad: The Telangana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Commission urged the state government to revive the Adarsha Rythu system, stating that it would improve the reach of government programmes to farmers.

According to the commission, the system would strengthen coordination at the village level. It would also ensure smoother communication between farmers and officials.

Telangana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Commission chairman M. Kodanda Reddy said Adarsha Rythus could act as a direct link between farmers and the government. Moreover, he said the system would support agriculture officers during scheme implementation.

In a letter written on Wednesday to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, the commission explained how the Adarsha Rythu system helped welfare schemes reach farmers effectively.

Adarsha Rythu system revival sought for stronger farmer outreach

The commission pointed out that the state government had already spent over ₹1 lakh crore on the agriculture sector. Therefore, it said reviving the Adarsha Rythu system would help farmers clearly understand government policies and welfare schemes.

At the same time, the commission clarified that restarting the system would not create any financial burden for the government. In addition, it noted that farmer unions and Adarsha Rythus were ready to serve without seeking any honorarium.

The commission further urged the government to take up the Adarsha Rythu system for discussion in the upcoming Assembly session. Subsequently, it requested steps to be taken to restore the system.

Later, Kodanda Reddy, along with commission members KVN Reddy, Gopal Reddy, and Bhoomi Sunil, met government advisers Vem Narender Reddy and CMO secretary Sheshadri at the Secretariat. During the meeting, they explained the proposal in detail and reiterated the demand.
