Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau searched 10 locations in Hyderabad and Zaheerabad on Thursday in connection with a DSP assets case. The ACB registered the disproportionate assets case against Sankireddy Bheem Reddy, Deputy Superintendent of Police with Police Computer Services. He served at the Telangana DGP’s office.
The agency invoked Section 13(1)(b), read with Section 13(2), of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The law underwent amendments in 2018. Moreover, ACB officials carried out the searches after obtaining warrants from the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Hyderabad.
The operation also covered residences of people whom the ACB suspected of acting as benamis. According to the agency, they had financial and other transactions with the officer.
DSP assets case searches yield cash and documents
During the searches, ACB officials seized several documents and articles allegedly connected to suspected benami assets. In addition, the agency found Rs 1.35 crore in cash at the residence of Bomma Venkatesh. Officials also found foreign currency and about 14 litres of foreign liquor at the premises.
Subsequently, the ACB informed the Excise Department about the liquor. The agency said the authorities were likely to initiate action under the relevant law. Meanwhile, the ACB continued its investigation into the DSP assets case.
