Banjara Hills sub-inspector allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh initially

According to ACB officials, Vijay allegedly demanded the bribe to provide several forms of relief to the complainant. The alleged arrangement included avoiding the complainant’s arrest in two cases referred by a court. It also involved issuing notices under Section 41-A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Additionally, the officer allegedly agreed to accept the complainant’s replies to those notices. The ACB stated that the demand also covered an assurance that police would not register fresh cases against the complainant in connection with the matter.

Although the initial demand stood at Rs 10 lakh, the officer allegedly reduced the amount to Rs 1 lakh. Following the registration of the criminal misconduct case, authorities produced Kottoor Vijay before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand.

The ACB continued its investigation into the allegations against the police officer. Meanwhile, authorities withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons. The case concerned allegations that the officer sought money in return for favourable action in two court-referred cases and assurances against further police cases.
