HYDERABAD, February 12: The Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) held a meeting with representatives of various political parties to discuss key aspects of the upcoming local body elections on Wednesday. The meeting, which took place in Hyderabad, saw participation from leaders of the Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
A major point of discussion was the proposal to make the “None of the Above” (NOTA) option mandatory in the local body elections. SEC officials sought feedback from party representatives regarding its implementation.
Political representatives presented their views on the matter, with some expressing concerns over its impact on voter behaviour. The SEC is expected to review the suggestions before making a final decision on NOTA’s inclusion in the upcoming polls.
