Hyderabad, February 4: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has clarified that the issuance of notices to certain MLAs is a standard procedure in compliance with Supreme Court directives. Speaking informally with the media after a recent Cabinet meeting held in the Assembly Hall, he stated that the Assembly Secretary is following due process in serving these notices.
The Cabinet meeting, chaired by CM Reddy, focused extensively on topics such as the caste census and the classification of Scheduled Castes (SC). He highlighted that the state has conducted a thorough survey, collecting comprehensive data across all regions. Reddy expressed hope that this initiative might prompt Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider a nationwide caste census.
Addressing the opposition’s role, CM Reddy criticised the main opposition party for what he perceives as irresponsible behaviour, noting their absence during discussions on these significant reports. He also mentioned that the government is proceeding with SC classification in line with the Supreme Court’s judgment, guided by recommendations from a ministerial sub-committee and a one-member commission.
