HYDERABAD, February 3: The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on the disqualification petitions against Telangana MLAs to February 10. The petitions were filed by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), seeking action against legislators who switched parties.
In its plea, BRS alleged that despite MLAs defecting, the Telangana Assembly Speaker had not taken any action. The party urged the Supreme Court to intervene and enforce disqualification proceedings.
The court stated that it would hear these petitions along with similar cases, including those related to MLAs Danam Nagender, Kadiyam Srihari, and Tellam Venkata Rao. Additionally, the Supreme Court directed that copies of the disqualification petitions be provided to the lawyer representing the Telangana Speaker.
The case is expected to continue as parties await further legal proceedings on the matter.
