₹34 lakh insurance cheque handed to kin of deceased home guard

Hyderabad: The police department, in coordination with Axis Bank, extended home guard insurance compensation of ₹34 lakh to the family of a home guard who died in an accident while on duty in the Rachakonda Commissionerate limits.

The deceased, M. Venkatesh, was serving as a home guard in Rachakonda. He lost his life in a road accident on April 27 last year while performing official duties. Under an agreement between the Home Guards department and Axis Bank, personnel holding salary accounts receive accident insurance coverage.

As part of this arrangement, the bank sanctioned ₹34 lakh as home guard insurance compensation to the bereaved family. Additional Director General of Police (Home Guards) Swati Lakra handed over the cheque to the deceased’s wife, Kodiganti Swathi, at the DGP’s office on Monday.

On the occasion, Swati Lakra expressed deep condolences to the family on behalf of the police department. She said the department stood firmly with the family during their time of grief.

She also appreciated Axis Bank for providing timely financial assistance under the accident insurance scheme. According to her, such support offered crucial relief to families of personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Representatives from Axis Bank, including Vice President Ravinder Reddy, attended the programme. Home Guard Region Commandant Venkateshwarlu and A.V. Sai Kumar, along with other officials, were also present.
