HYDERABAD: In a significant anti-Naxal operation, security forces arrested 22 Maoists in Chhattisgarh on Thursday and seized a large quantity of explosives from different locations in Bijapur district.
According to officials, the materials were confiscated from three separate locations, with key arrests made in the forested areas of Tekameta village under Usur police station limits. Seven Naxal cadres were apprehended during a combing operation jointly conducted by local police and COBRA commandos.
Further operations led to the arrest of six more Naxals from Belchar village under Jangla police station limits, while nine others were taken into custody from forest areas near Kandakar village under Neelasnar police station limits. The arrests were made during coordinated joint operations by various security forces.
Among the recovered items were tiffin bombs, gelatin sticks, detonators, electric wires, batteries, Maoist pamphlets, and other materials typically used in insurgent activities.
The arrested individuals are aged between 19 and 45 years, and are suspected to have been active in local Naxalite operations. Security officials stated that the crackdown is part of an intensified effort to curb Maoist influence in the region.
