HYDERABAD: In a tragic incident in Warangal district’s Parvathagiri mandal, two youths accidentally fell into the SRSP canal, with one of them still missing.
According to reports, four youths from LB Nagar, Warangal, visited the Annaram Baba Dargah on Sunday. While returning, they stopped near the SRSP canal at Konkapaka on the outskirts of Parvathagiri after one of them, identified as Rehman, stepped into some mud and wanted to clean himself.
As Rehman entered the canal to wash up, he slipped and fell into the water. Seeing him struggle, his friend Khaleem jumped in to rescue him. However, due to the strong current, Khaleem too was pulled in. Locals present at the scene managed to save Khaleem, but Rehman was swept away by the current.
The other two friends, reportedly frightened by the situation, left the scene in the auto-rickshaw. Parvathagiri police, upon receiving information, arrived at the spot and launched a search operation to trace the missing youth, Rehman. The operation is ongoing.
