HYDERABAD: A youth was brutally murdered on his birthday by his girlfriend’s father in Mapeery Thota village of Peddapalli district. The incident occurred on Thursday night.
Sai Kumar, who had dropped out of school, was in love with a girl from the same village. Upon learning about the relationship, the girl’s father, Muthyam Singh, allegedly planned to kill him. While Sai Kumar was celebrating his birthday with friends on the outskirts of the village, Muthyam Singh reached the spot and attacked him with an axe.
Eyewitnesses informed local media that the accused struck Sai Kumar suddenly while he was cutting the cake with friends. The youth tried to escape but collapsed after running a short distance. The assailant attacked him again before fleeing the scene. Sai Kumar’s friends, shocked by the sudden assault, tried to stop the attacker but he managed to escape.
Police are making efforts to trace the absconding accused. It is believed that Sai Kumar had been in a relationship for the past two years with a girl from a different caste, and her father strongly opposed the affair. He had also warned Sai Kumar to end the relationship.
The victim’s father, Purushuramlu, stated that he had previously filed a police complaint, expressing concern that his son’s life was in danger. He claimed that the girl’s father had been plotting the murder for the past five months. According to him, the tragedy could have been avoided if the police had taken timely action and summoned the accused for counselling.
Following the incident, security has been increased in the village to prevent any untoward developments.
