Hyderabad, January 27: A worker in Peddapalli district died by suicide, allegedly due to distress over being excluded from the Indiramma housing scheme beneficiary list. The incident occurred in Kishtampet village, Kalva Srirampur mandal, on Sunday.
According to details, Purushottam Prabhakar, a local worker, consumed pesticide after discovering that his name was not included in the list of beneficiaries under the Indiramma housing scheme. His exclusion reportedly caused him severe emotional distress.
Following Prabhakar’s death, his family members were inconsolable. They accused the government of negligence and claimed that this was not a suicide but a result of the administration’s failure to fulfil its promises. “This is not just suicide; it is a murder by the government. We demand justice,” said members of the grieving family.
The tragic incident has brought attention to the challenges faced by citizens in accessing government welfare schemes and has sparked criticism of the Congress government in Telangana. Local authorities have yet to respond to the family’s demands or provide clarity regarding the housing scheme’s implementation.
