Hyderabad: A 29-year-old woman from Khammam district died after undergoing a fertility procedure at Plan B Fertility Hospital in Gachibowli, sparking anger among her family and raising fresh questions about the mushrooming, often unregulated, fertility clinics across Hyderabad.
Pallavi, who had been married for four years without conceiving, was admitted to the hospital on June 10, according to Gachibowli police. Doctors reportedly told her family she had fluid-filled sacs in her uterus and recommended surgery.
The hospital reportedly informed the family that the procedure had gone smoothly and also collected the payment. Later, doctors said Pallavi had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and died.
Distraught, her family gathered outside the hospital, demanding answers and holding the clinic accountable. Police arrived at the scene, registering a case and opening an investigation into the incident.
