Hyderabad: Vigilance and Enforcement teams launched statewide raids on Friday, exposing major irregularities in rice milling, mining, and transport operations across Telangana.
In Siddipet, officials from the RC Puram unit inspected the MM Food Processing Parboiled Rice Mill. They found 6,674 quintals of Custom Milled Rice (CMR), intended for the 2024–25 cycle, diverted from official supply. The seized rice carried an estimated value of ₹1.54 crore. Vigilance and Enforcement Director General Shikha Goel confirmed the findings and directed civil supplies officials to take immediate action.
Mining unit penalised for unreported stock
Meanwhile, in Suryapet district, the Nalgonda unit conducted joint inspections with mining authorities at the VMNR Stone Crusher Company. The team discovered that the firm had failed to report 3,252 metric tonnes of stone. Authorities imposed a seigniorage penalty of ₹2.53 lakh for the discrepancy.
Transport checks yield ₹14.32 lakh in penalties
Simultaneously, Hyderabad Unit-1, working with Motor Vehicle Inspectors, Mines, and Commercial department officials, carried out route checks at Patancheru and Mutangi toll gates. These checks, held over Thursday and Friday, led to ten vehicles being booked under the MVI Act with ₹5.18 lakh in penalties.
Moreover, two vehicles violated provisions under the Mining Act, while another two fell under GST infractions. These cases resulted in an additional ₹7.28 lakh in fines.
In a separate effort, officials also conducted route inspections on the Karimnagar–Peddapalli corridor. Collaborating with the Road Transport Authority, they registered 18 cases and imposed penalties amounting to ₹6.5 lakh.
