HYDERABAD: Rajendranagar Court has granted bail to Veeraraghava Reddy, the main accused in the assault on Rangarajan, the chief priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple. The court has directed Reddy to furnish two sureties of ₹15,000 each.
The incident occurred on February 8, when Reddy allegedly visited Rangarajan’s residence, urging the priest to support his initiative of forming a ‘Rama Rajya’ army and to enlist devotees into this group. The situation escalated, leading to the reported assault on Rangarajan.
Following the incident, authorities arrested Reddy and remanded him into custody. Several others associated with the case were also charged and taken into custody. The attack drew widespread condemnation from various quarters, including political and film industry figures, who visited Rangarajan to express their support. Hindu organizations also denounced the assault, calling for stringent action against those responsible.
