Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy secured government approval to widen several R&B roads in Huzurnagar and Kodad constituencies with an allocation of ₹130 crore.
The state government issued orders to convert nearly 49 kilometres of single-lane roads into double-lane roads under the Major District Roads (MDR) plan. Consequently, the projects will significantly improve road connectivity in the region.
The proposal moved forward following efforts by Uttam Kumar Reddy along with Padmavathi Reddy, MLA of Kodad. As a result, authorities approved funds and administrative permissions simultaneously.
Officials said the upgraded roads will improve travel facilities for several villages in both constituencies.
Uttam Kumar Reddy pushes road expansion in Huzurnagar and Kodad
In Huzurnagar constituency, authorities sanctioned works worth ₹62 crore to develop double-lane roads covering about 26.5 kilometres. Therefore, around 15 villages will gain better connectivity.
Under the plan, engineers will widen the road from Chintalapalem to Kistapuram across 9.2 kilometres. Consequently, residents of Chintalapalem, Shobhanadrigudem, Adluru, Thammaram, Kothur and Kistapuram will gain easier access.
Similarly, engineers will widen the stretch from Ramalakshmipuram to the Huzurnagar bypass road across 3.8 kilometres. As a result, people from Ramalakshmipuram, Yerraram and nearby villages will benefit.
Authorities will also widen the road from Amaravaram to Kotha Thanda across 5.5 kilometres. Consequently, residents of Amaravaram, Anjalipuram Thanda and Kotha Thanda will get better road access.
In addition, engineers will widen the road from Guduguntlapalem to Yellapuram covering eight kilometres. This project will help people in Guduguntlapalem, Musi Odu Singaram and Yellapuram.
Meanwhile, in Kodad constituency, authorities sanctioned ₹68 crore to upgrade 22.6 kilometres of roads. Therefore, connectivity between several villages will improve.
Engineers will widen the road from Kodad to Ananthagiri across 6.6 kilometres and increase its width from seven metres to ten metres. Consequently, residents of Kodad, Khanapuram and Ananthagiri will benefit.
Authorities will also widen the stretch from NH9 to Nelamarri across 10 kilometres. As a result, people from Tadwai Thanda, Tadwai, Venkatramapuram and Nelamarri will get better connectivity.
Similarly, engineers will widen the road from Kapugallu to Dorakunta across six kilometres. This improvement will help residents of Kapugallu and Dorakunta villages.
Finally, Uttam Kumar Reddy instructed officials to invite tenders immediately and begin the works on a priority basis.
