Hyderabad: Union minister G Kishan Reddy said the Union Budget 2026 would strengthen India’s economy and create more employment opportunities.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi after the budget presentation on Sunday, he said the Union Budget would also strengthen the defence sector. In addition, he said the Centre announced seven high-speed rail corridors nationwide.
Of these, three corridors will originate from Hyderabad. He described this as a proud moment for Telangana. He added that the projects would further accelerate Hyderabad’s growth.

Referring to sectoral initiatives, Kishan Reddy said the Bio-Pharma Mission in the Union Budget would benefit Hyderabad’s life sciences sector. He also said the Centre increased fertiliser subsidy allocation by ₹7,000 crore.
On fiscal support, he said Telangana’s share in central taxes rose by 13.5 per cent. At the same time, he said the Centre’s textile push would benefit the Warangal Mega Textile Park.
Turning to social infrastructure, he said the proposal for one girls’ hostel per district would bring 33 hostels to Telangana. Similarly, he said cities raising over ₹1,000 crore through municipal bonds would receive a ₹100 crore incentive.
On metro expansion, Kishan Reddy said the Centre would decide on funding after the state completed the merger process. He added that the state must submit a DPR for Metro Phase II.
