Hyderabad: Job guarantee fraud surfaced after cyber fraudsters cheated an unemployed man from Moulali of Rs.15 lakh by promising assured employment through astrology remedies and fake recruitment calls.
The victim received messages on Instagram from accounts named Saicharan 12 M and Astrocharan, which offered horoscope analysis. After exchanging phone numbers, the accused continued communication through WhatsApp. During these conversations, Saicharan convinced the victim that horoscope defects were blocking his job prospects.
Initially, Saicharan collected Rs.50,000 by assuring the victim that a job would come immediately. He then claimed to perform certain rituals and later shared another phone number, asking the victim to call it. When contacted, the person introduced himself as an HR manager and asked the victim to send his resume.
After about ten days, the accused claimed the resume was under process. However, they stated that arranging a good job would involve expenses of up to Rs.15 lakh. Believing the assurances, the victim transferred money in multiple instalments.
Job guarantee fraud involved fake HR and interview calls
During the process, the cyber fraudsters conducted fake HR and technical interviews over phone calls. They told the victim that he would receive calls from the HR department of Cognizant. Subsequently, a woman contacted the victim, claimed to be from HR, and collected personal details.
She assured the victim that an offer letter would be issued soon. However, repeated delays followed. When the victim contacted Saicharan again, he was advised to check directly with the HR team regarding the offer letter.
Recently, the victim demanded a refund and stated that he no longer wanted the job. Although the accused promised to return the money, they soon switched off their phones. Realising that he had fallen prey to job guarantee fraud, the victim approached the Rachakonda Cyber Crime Police. Police registered a case and began an investigation.
