Hyderabad: Uma Rani Nizamabad Mayor formally assumed charge of the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation on Friday, with senior Congress leaders pledging corruption-free governance and accelerated urban development.
Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud and State Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar Goud attended the swearing-in ceremony. They congratulated the newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor and addressed party workers and civic representatives present at the event.
Congress outlines roadmap after Uma Rani Nizamabad Mayor takes office
Speaking at the ceremony, Mohammed Ali Shabbir said the Congress government remained committed to meeting public expectations and ensuring transparent administration. He stated that the government would develop Nizamabad into a model city without scope for corruption. According to him, voters recognised the party’s earlier development initiatives and entrusted it with the Mayor’s post.
PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud described the election as the outcome of sustained efforts by party workers and public support. He said Nizamabad was his home ground and added that he was familiar with the city’s civic issues. He assured that the government would allocate adequate funds to strengthen infrastructure. Consequently, he said, Nizamabad would emerge as a frontrunner in urban development. He added that the leadership change aimed to bring measurable improvements in civic life.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar Goud said the government prioritised strengthening local bodies. He advised the Mayor to remain accessible to residents and address grievances promptly. In addition, he said the administration would focus on improving roads, drainage systems and drinking water supply. He emphasised that coordination between the Cabinet and local public representatives would drive municipal progress.
Uma Rani Nizamabad Mayor thanked Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and senior party leaders for placing confidence in her leadership. She said she would work inclusively and focus on cleanliness and civic improvement. She also stated that her administration would strive to transform Nizamabad into a clean and well-managed city.
