Hyderabad: A man with a history of violent behaviour was killed by his two wives in Telangana’s Jangaon district after years of alleged abuse. The incident occurred late Monday night in Enabavi village, Lingalaghanpur mandal.
According to police, the deceased, 30-year-old Kankayya, was addicted to alcohol and routinely subjected both his wives to physical and mental torture. His violent behaviour had long terrorised not just his family, but also villagers.
Kankayya had reportedly been on the run since May 18 after allegedly killing his second wife Sirisha’s mother in a drunken rage at a mango orchard in Nalgonda district. Despite being a fugitive, he continued to intermittently return to the village, threatening his wives and locals.
On Monday night, during one such visit, Kankayya reportedly got into an argument with his wives. In a drunken fit, he attempted to intimidate them with an axe. The women turned the weapon against him, attacking and killing him on the spot. They later disposed of the body in the Devadula canal.
Police recovered the body and took both women into custody. A murder case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
