Two dead as boat capsizes at Vikarabad resort, negligence alleged

Hyderabad: Two tourists were killed and two others critically injured when their boat capsized at the Sarpanpalli project in Vikarabad district on Sunday, sending shockwaves through the local tourism community.

Police said four visitors from Hyderabad had checked into a resort near the project for a getaway when the tragedy struck. The boat capsized without warning, leaving two tourists dead on the spot. Locals managed to rescue the other two and get them to a private hospital, where their condition remains critical.

Afterward, claims surfaced that the boat had no government approval and was missing basic safety equipment.

Some visitors accused resort staff of forcing them onto old, poorly maintained boats. Several tourists, including women, blamed the management of Wilderness Resort for ignoring safety norms and acting negligently.

Police have registered a case and are investigating whether there were any lapses that led to the mishap.
