Hyderabad: The Telangana Working Journalists Federation (TWJF) on Monday urged the state government to oppose the implementation of central labour codes that replaced existing working journalist laws.
TWJF general secretary B. Basavapunnaiah, vice presidents B. Rajashekar, Gudiga Raghu, P. Radhika, state executive member Manimala, and leader Mekala Krishna submitted a memorandum to Labour and Employment Minister Gaddam Vivek in Hyderabad.
The delegation requested the state to pass a resolution in the Assembly against the new labour codes. They also demanded the revival of the journalist accident insurance policy, constitution of a tripartite committee with representation for HUJ, revision of the minimum wage GO, and provision of safe night-time transport for women journalists.

Minister Vivek responded that a high-level meeting would be convened soon to discuss the issues. He assured the TWJF team that the Labour Department would address the concerns of journalists.
