Turmeric Farmers Protest halts trade at Nizamabad Market Yard

Hyderabad: Turmeric Farmers Protest erupted at Nizamabad Market Yard on Thursday after purchases stalled for three days due to lack of support price and an eNAM server problem.

Officials did not allot lot numbers as the eNAM software failed to function. Consequently, traders halted turmeric procurement at the yard.

Farmers who brought their produce waited near heaps of turmeric for the past three days. Meanwhile, adverse weather conditions added to their anxiety. However, authorities cited technical issues and did not resume trading.

Turmeric Farmers Protest over eNAM Server Problem

Angered by the delay, farmers launched a protest in the morning. They damaged window panes of the market office during the agitation.

Police rushed to the spot and intervened. They held discussions with the protesting farmers and attempted to pacify them.

Farmers demanded immediate restoration of the eNAM server and resumption of purchases. They also sought assurance on fair pricing for their turmeric produce.
