Toshiba expansion, new facilities boost Telangana manufacturing

Hyderabad: Telangana Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu laid the foundation stone for Toshiba’s ₹177 crore EHVT power transformer plant expansion and inaugurated two advanced manufacturing facilities a ₹65 crore CRGO Core Processing Centre and a ₹105 crore Surge Arrester Unit, bringing the total investment to ₹347 crore. He said these projects underscored the growing trust that global companies place in Telangana’s industrial ecosystem.

According to the minister, the state is pursuing a clear strategy to position itself as a global manufacturing hub. The Economic Survey projected Telangana’s 2024–25 industrial output at ₹2.77 lakh crore, with manufacturing contributing almost 48%. Merchandise exports crossed ₹1 lakh crore within the first nine months of the fiscal year, while the state’s GSDP growth rate of 8.2% remains above the national average.

Sridhar Babu said the Clean & Green Energy Policy 2025 had already attracted ₹29,000 crore in clean energy investments, with a goal of increasing renewable capacity to 20,000 MW by 2030. Exclusive Green Energy Equipment Zones are being developed to draw investments in smart grids, power components, and clean technologies. He noted that the MoU signed with Toshiba in Japan has already delivered tangible outcomes.

TTDI Chairman and Managing Director Hiroshi Furuta said the investment would strengthen Toshiba’s manufacturing presence in India and boost local employment and skill development.
