Tolichowki police solve auto driver’s murder, arrest accused within 24 hours

Hyderabad: Tolichowki police solved the murder of a 25-year-old auto driver, Mohd Muzzamil alias Ayub, within 24 hours and arrested the accused, Mohammed Ishaque alias Khalid, from a hotel in Hakimpet.

The incident occurred in the early hours of October 30 near SS Function Hall, Tolichowki. Muzzamil, a resident of Hakimpet, was found dead in his auto rickshaw (AP 28 TE 4816). His brother, Shaik Muzaffar, filed a complaint shortly after learning of the death.

Liquor-fueled quarrel ended in strangulation

As per the investigation, Muzzamil was drinking at around 2 AM with Khalid and a group of friends near Bake Well Bakery. During the session, a fight erupted between Muzzamil and Khalid over a mobile phone. Police said Khalid strangled Muzzamil with a cord, resulting in his death.

Officers quickly gathered CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, which confirmed Khalid’s involvement. Acting on credible information, police apprehended him at 7 AM on October 31 from 9 Hills OYO Rooms in Hakimpet. They also seized the deceased’s Vivo mobile phone from his possession.

Accused arrested, motive confirmed

The team recovered the auto rickshaw and established the motive as a mobile phone dispute. Officials confirmed that Khalid fled with the phone after the murder.

Inspector L. Ramesh Naik led the investigation, assisted by sub-inspectors M. Satish Kumar, G. Raghavendra, S. Ravi Kumar, and M. Rajendar Reddy. The operation was supervised by DCP G. Chandra Mohan and monitored by ACP Syed Faiz of Tolichowki Division.
