Hyderabad: The government decided to develop three model solar villages in Nalgonda district by establishing solar power plants with a combined capacity of 15 MW at a cost of Rs 97.39 crore.
Officials selected Anumula, Kangal and Mudigonda villages for the initiative. Earlier, they successfully developed Kondareddypalli as a solar village. Therefore, authorities expanded the programme to additional villages in the district.
TSSPDCL CMD Musharraf Faruqui and REDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director V Anil reviewed the implementation plan at the Nalgonda circle office on Tuesday. During the meeting, they discussed timelines, expenditure and execution strategy.
Model solar villages to benefit 2,895 consumers
Under the project, authorities will extend benefits to 2,895 electricity consumers in the three villages. Of them, 1,644 are agricultural consumers, while 1,251 fall under other categories. Accordingly, officials will install solar panels for all identified beneficiaries.
Later, Nagarjuna Sagar MLA Jaiveer Reddy presided over a special meeting in Anumula village. He said solar power would reduce electricity expenses for farmers and other consumers. Moreover, he stated that the initiative would promote environmental protection through sustainable energy usage.
TSSPDCL directors Dr N Narasimhulu and V Shivaji, along with Chief Engineer Balaswamy and other officials, attended the programme.
