Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to iBOMMA Ravi in a high-profile movie piracy case, imposing strict monitoring conditions as the investigation continued.
The court directed Emandi Ravi, administrator of the iBOMMA website, to appear before the CCS daily. It also ordered him to surrender his passport. In addition, the court barred him from leaving the country or independently accessing the internet without police permission as part of the iBOMMA Ravi bail conditions.
Cyber Crime Police had arrested Ravi in November last year. He faces multiple cases, including movie piracy, copyright violations and offences under the IT Act. Investigators also accused him of promoting betting applications through the platform.
According to investigators, financial transactions worth Rs 13.40 crore were linked to him. They stated that Rs 1.78 crore was earned through betting advertisements. During the probe, officials found that Rs 90 lakh in cash was sent to his sister Chandrika. Police further alleged that Ravi carried out these cash transactions in dollars.
iBOMMA Ravi bail after earlier rejection
Earlier, a Nampally court denied bail to Ravi. However, the Telangana High Court granted iBOMMA Ravi bail subject to strict conditions. The court imposed continuous monitoring requirements while allowing him relief.
Authorities said the investigation into the alleged piracy network and financial transactions would continue. Meanwhile, police will monitor compliance with the bail conditions.
