TGSRTC adds ‘Flag a Bus’ feature for women on Gamyam app

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has added a new safety feature for women on its ‘Gamyam’ app to make travel safer and easier.

The new ‘Flag a Bus’ option allows women to stop a TGSRTC bus and board it directly from the roadside at night.

Officials said the feature works only between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. on the Gamyam app. When women tap the ‘Flag a Bus’ option, the mobile screen turns green.

They can then wave the phone while standing by the road. This alerts the driver that a woman is waiting, prompting him to stop the bus immediately.

Officials explained that the feature aims to improve women’s safety and accessibility during night travel. Moreover, they said it reflects TGSRTC’s focus on secure, inclusive public transport.
