Hyderabad: TGSPDCL Assistant Engineer caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 16,000 at Masab Tank Section on Tuesday.
The accused, Mamidisetti Srinivasa Rao, worked as Assistant Engineer (Operations) with Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited. ACB City Range-II officials trapped him in his office during the operation.
According to ACB officials, the officer demanded the bribe from a complainant. He allegedly sought the money to avoid coercive action over a seized electricity meter. Officials said he accepted the amount in his office.

ACB teams recovered the tainted sum of Rs 16,000 from the officer’s possession at his instance. Investigators stated that he misused his official position and acted dishonestly to gain undue advantage.
Following the trap, officials arrested him. Authorities will produce him before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
The case remains under investigation. Meanwhile, ACB withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons. Officials urged citizens to report corruption by calling the toll-free number 1064.
