Hyderabad: The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TGSHRC) directed the Chief Secretary to immediately release pending salaries to employees working in Mahila Shakti Kendras. The order was issued by TGSHRC Chairperson Justice Shameem Akther.
The Commission observed that withholding salaries of social counsellors, legal counsellors, police constables, and data entry operators in these centres violated the right to livelihood under Article 21 of the Constitution. It instructed the government to clear all dues without delay and submit a compliance report within two months.

The Commission reiterated that denial of wages amounts to infringement of fundamental rights and stressed that the state must ensure timely payment to all categories of staff engaged in women’s welfare services.
