Hyderabad: The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) has decided to postpone the certificate verification process for Group-3 services, which was scheduled from June 18 to July 6. The decision was taken following appeals made by candidates urging the commission to complete the final selection for Group-2 posts before moving ahead with Group-3 verifications.
TGPSC Secretary Dr E. Naveen Nicholas issued formal orders on Tuesday, citing the concerns raised by aspirants over potential overlaps and backlog issues. Many candidates who sat for both Group-2 and Group-3 exams have the possibility of being selected for both posts. If the commission were to verify both groups simultaneously, candidates would have to forgo one of the two offers. This, in turn, would leave unfilled posts that would have to be carried forward as backlogs.
Drawing from past experiences—particularly the teacher recruitment process in residential schools where all results were announced at once—TGPSC has opted to avoid repeating the same mistake. Back then, around 1,800 posts ended up as backlogs because many candidates were selected for multiple roles and chose only one, leaving the rest vacant.
The commission explained that delaying the Group-3 verification until after Group-2 appointments are complete would help prevent a similar backlog scenario. Officials had originally planned to conduct Group-3 certificate verification from June 18 to July 8, with a reserve day on July 9. The commission has assured that a fresh schedule will be announced soon after the completion of the Group-2 process.
TGPSC had earlier notified 1,388 Group-3 posts and conducted the written examination, releasing results on March 15. Candidate details for the verification process were also made available on the commission’s official website.
