HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall across several districts of Telangana over the next two days, issuing a yellow alert in response to anticipated thunderstorms and gusty winds.
According to the IMD, a surface trough extends from southeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas, passing through Vidarbha and central Telangana, reaching up to 0.9 kilometres above mean sea level. A similar surface circulation persists over Coastal Andhra, Yanam, and adjacent central regions, also extending up to the same altitude.
Under this influence, Telangana is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in the coming days. Temperatures are also expected to rise by two to three degrees Celsius in several areas.
On Sunday, thunderstorms accompanied by hailstorms are expected in isolated parts of Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts. A yellow alert has been issued for these regions.
Additionally, sporadic rain accompanied by lightning, thunder, and gusty winds is likely in Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Jangaon districts.
On Monday, hailstorms are forecast for Khammam and Bhadradri Kothagudem. Parts of Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam may witness thunderstorms with lightning and winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph. The IMD has extended the yellow alert to these districts as well.
