Hyderabad: A 42-year-old lorry driver died after being attacked during a drunken brawl at Donkal village in Nizamabad district on Friday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Sheikh Rahman, a resident of Nandigutta in Nizamabad. Four days earlier, he had travelled to Donkal along with a man named Raju for contract repair work.
According to police, Rahman and Raju were consuming alcohol late on the night of June 26 when a quarrel broke out. In the course of the altercation, Raju allegedly struck Rahman with wooden logs, causing serious injuries.
Rahman was shifted to hospital the following morning but died while undergoing treatment.
Based on a complaint from the victim’s brother, Sheikh Raheel, a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
