Hyderabad: The Telangana government has completed all arrangements for the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, Asia’s largest tribal congregation, with a strong focus on transport and pilgrim facilities at Medaram.
With heavy footfall likely, the transport and railway departments strengthened systems in advance. Meanwhile, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Panchayati Raj and Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka will visit Medaram on Saturday to review preparations.
During the visit, the ministers will flag off specially designed TGSRTC buses. At the same time, they will inspect ground-level arrangements to ensure smooth movement of devotees.
To ease travel, the government built a modern temporary bus station across 50 acres at Medaram. Additionally, authorities installed over 50 queue lines, water points, rest areas and mobile toilets. Moreover, officials drew up a tight schedule. As a result, four buses will depart from Medaram every minute during peak hours.
Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara sees special trains and 4,000 RTC buses
Meanwhile, the railway department announced special services for pilgrims travelling to Medaram. From January 28 to 31, the railways will operate Janasadharan special trains via Warangal and Kazipet.
The railways will run these trains from Secunderabad, Nizamabad, Khammam and Adilabad. Therefore, devotees across the state will reach the jatara more easily.
This year, free travel for women under the Mahalakshmi scheme may increase footfall. Consequently, the benefit of Pallevelugu and Express buses will boost turnout. Anticipating the surge, TGSRTC has readied nearly 4,000 special buses.
Officials said the coordinated transport plan will ensure safe and orderly travel. Ultimately, the government aims to provide hassle-free movement for lakhs of devotees attending the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara.
