Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Excise Jupally Krishna Rao has announced plans to develop the Somashila Wellness and Spiritual Retreat in Nallamala with ₹68.10 crore under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.

During a field visit to Somashila, Amaragiri island, Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation site, Narlapur reservoir, and temples in Kollapur and Jetprole, the minister reviewed opportunities for tourism development in the region. He was accompanied by Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, TSTDC MD Kranthi Valluru, District Collector Bhadavath Santosh, and other officials.

Jupally stated that Telangana has significant untapped potential in tourism and the government is formulating plans to leverage this sector for job creation. He said the goal is to transform the state into a tourism hub by building facilities to international standards.

He held a review meeting at Kollapur camp office to assess the project’s components and directed officials to issue tenders soon while ensuring quality in execution. He emphasized that Somashila, Amaragiri, and Eegalapenta will be key focus areas for environmental, spiritual, water sports, and adventure-based tourism.

Cluster 1 of the project will include arrival facilities, river cruises, and tribal tourism in Eegalapenta. Cluster 2 will focus on wellness and spiritual amenities in Somashila.

The infrastructure will include boat jetties, cottages, swimming pools, cafés, spas, wellness centers, and indoor/outdoor recreational spaces at Somashila and Amaragiri.

Jupally affirmed that the project is a priority for the Revanth Reddy-led government and aims to attract both domestic and international tourists through improved infrastructure and unique experiences.
