Telangana to hold Special Lok Adalat to clear pending criminal cases

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) will organise a Special Lok Adalat in all courts of Telangana on November 15, 2025, to settle pending criminal compoundable cases. The initiative follows the directions of Hon’ble Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Patron-in-Chief of TSLSA, and Hon’ble Justice P. Sam Koshy, Executive Chairman of TSLSA.

To plan the programme, the TSLSA held a coordination meeting under Justice P. Sam Koshy. Members discussed the process for settling criminal compoundable and cheque bounce cases. They also reviewed other disputes suitable for resolution through the Special Lok Adalat.

Justice Koshy urged police officers to extend complete cooperation. He said faster settlements would reduce the burden on courts. As a result, both police and judiciary could focus on serious offences. Moreover, he stressed that collective effort could clear a large number of pending cases.

Police assure full cooperation for Lok Adalat

Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy promised full support for the event. He stated that instructions would be issued soon to all police units to ensure smooth coordination. Furthermore, he said the department would work closely with judicial officers to make the Lok Adalat a success.

In addition, senior officials, including Mahesh Bhagwath, Additional DGP (Law and Order); Charu Sinha, Additional DGP (CID); Commissioners of Police from Cyberabad and Rachakonda; and the Joint Commissioner of Hyderabad, attended the meeting. Likewise, Ch. Panchakshari, Member Secretary, and M. Raju, Administrative Officer (Judicial), TSLSA, took part in the discussions.
