Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to organise special Aadhaar registration and update camps in schools to assist students, officials from the School Education Department said on Friday.
Through this initiative, the government aims to ensure students complete Aadhaar services within school premises. Therefore, the camps will primarily cover students aged between five and 15 years.
Officials clarified that students can complete their first biometric update free of cost. However, they must pay Rs 125 for the second biometric update.
Similarly, students seeking corrections or changes to existing Aadhaar details must pay Rs 75, officials added.
Aadhaar camps to ease access for students and parents
According to officials, the department will conduct special Aadhaar mobile camps across schools in the state. As a result, students and parents will not need to visit Aadhaar centres separately.
Meanwhile, to know the camp schedule, officials advised parents and students to contact the District Education Officer or Mandal Education Officer. They said authorities would share details locally.
At the same time, parents and teachers’ associations welcomed the government’s decision. They said the move would save time and reduce inconvenience for families.
Moreover, officials said the initiative would help students complete Aadhaar updates on time. They added that it would also support smooth access to student-related government services.
