Hyderabad, January 27: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees have announced plans to initiate a strike, citing unresolved issues that have persisted for nearly four years. Union leaders are scheduled to present a strike notice to TSRTC Managing Director Sajjanar at Bus Bhavan today at 3 PM. The RTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) has called upon employees across the state to gather in large numbers for this event.
Union representatives have expressed concerns that the rights of RTC workers are being neglected. They highlight that, in addition to ongoing challenges faced by current employees, retired personnel are still awaiting the resolution of their issues, with substantial pending dues yet to be cleared. Progress on pay scale enhancements has been stagnant, and outstanding Dearness Allowance (DA) payments remain unpaid. Furthermore, the unions point out that the government has overlooked the establishment of unions and the proposed merger of RTC into the government framework. Despite promises to align RTC employees’ salaries with those of government workers, these commitments have not been fulfilled.
In response to these grievances, the JAC has decided to serve a strike notice, aiming to secure the rights of workers and ensure the implementation of financial and other assurances from the government.
The unions are urging the government to address these longstanding issues promptly to prevent disruptions in public transportation services.
