Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has appointed its first woman bus driver. Saritha, a native of Seethyatanda in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, joined duty on Saturday.
She drove a TGSRTC bus from Hyderabad to Miryalaguda on her first day. Before this, she worked as a driver in Delhi.
With her parents now elderly, Saritha requested a posting in Telangana to support them. She approached Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar for help. Following their intervention, she was appointed as a driver in the state’s transport service.
