Hyderabad: The Telangana government will name a new 100-metre-wide greenfield radial road after industrialist Ratan Tata. This road will link the Nehru Outer Ring Road at Raviryala to the upcoming Regional Ring Road (RRR). The state has already named the Raviryala interchange as the ‘Tata Interchange’.
This move is part of Telangana’s broader plan to brand Hyderabad’s infrastructure with globally recognised names and symbols of innovation. In a first for any country, the state also plans to name a major road near the US Consulate in Hyderabad as ‘Donald Trump Avenue’.
Roads to celebrate global innovators and firms
The state government will inform the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the US Embassy about these plans. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy first proposed the idea during the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) conclave in Delhi. He had called for honouring international corporations through infrastructure branding.
Following that vision, the state will name a road near Google’s new campus in Hyderabad’s Financial District as ‘Google Street’. The state chose this name to recognise the company’s contributions, especially through Google Maps. This campus will be Google’s largest facility outside the United States.
Plans are also underway to recognise other tech giants. Officials expect to name major junctions as ‘Wipro Junction’ and ‘Microsoft Road’, acknowledging the strong presence of these companies in the city’s IT sector.
Officials said the project aims to brand Telangana as a global innovation hub. More roads could be named after notable individuals and corporations that have driven economic and technological progress.
