Hyderabad: The Telangana government permitted Muslim employees to leave offices and schools at 4 PM during Ramzan, according to Memo No. 677/Poll.B/26 dated February 17, 2026.
The General Administration (Poll.B) Department issued the orders. It allowed government employees, teachers, contract and outsourcing staff, employees of Boards and Corporations, and Public Sector employees belonging to the Muslim community to leave one hour early.
The relaxation will apply during Ramzan from February 19, 2026 to March 20, 2026, both days inclusive. The government said employees may use the time to offer necessary prayers.
Ramzan permission subject to service needs
However, the memo clarified that the concession will not apply where service exigencies require their presence. In such cases, departments may retain employees as needed.
Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao issued the orders. The government circulated the memo to all departments in the Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. It also informed the Director General of Police, commissioners, district collectors and other heads of departments.
Further, the Information and Public Relations Department was directed to give wide publicity to the decision.
